Keep her learning.
Keep her future alive.
Because every dollar should restore possibility.
In Dadaab Refugee Camp, education is more than a lesson — it’s a lifeline.
Huru helps girls stay in school and equips boys to support them, breaking the cycle of lost opportunity.
With UNHCR and other partners, Huru is ready to deliver sustainable solutions for 33,000 youth in Dadaab Refugee Camp.
Why Dadaab? Why Now?
Dadaab Refugee Camp in Kenya is one of the world’s largest and most overlooked refugee camps. More than 430,000 live here. Over half are children. After funding cuts and aid withdrawal, the communities here are left holding on to hope with almost nothing to sustain it.
430,000+ refugees
57% under age 18
51% female
When disposable pad programs ended, thousands of girls lost the ability to attend school safely. Teachers and students told us the need is urgent and clear—reliable, reusable protection—and programs that keep girls in class and bring boys into the conversation.
Our field visits confirmed both the scale of the crisis and the opportunity for smarter, more sustainable aid. With existing infrastructure, strong local partners, and schools ready to act, Dadaab is a place where compassion and efficiency can work hand in hand to restore possibility.
What we found on the ground:
200,000 school-aged children in Dadaab. Only 40% attend school regularly and fewer than half are girls.
Schools are equipped with borehole water and electricity, enabling safe use of reusable products.
Local and global partners, including UNHCR, are prepared to support logistics, warehousing and education rollout.
Teachers and students voiced urgent need. Demand for reusable pads is immediate and high.
