These are the stories that run rampant throughout the communities in which Huru works. We’ve seen the worry on their faces when girls relay these stories, and we’ve made it our mission to not let them down.

For starters, Huru Pads are made at our facilities in Nairobi, Kenya. They’re produced by local men and women from under-served communities like Mukuru kwa Njenga, the second largest informal settlement in Kenya and the birthplace of Huru.
We’ve tested these pads over and over to ensure that girls can trust them — we’ve even used the pads ourselves. Huru pads are designed to be:

Girls’ confidence is so important to us that we guarantee our pads to last at least 24 months, but they often last a lot longer than that when cared for. Plus, we probably don’t have to tell you that reusable pads are better for the planet, but it’s true… they are.
People ask us all the time what makes a Huru Kit so special? Well, besides the fact that our pads last at least 24 months, we found through extensive testing that the average girl needs 6 pads to confidently manage her period, so that’s why there are 6 pads in a Huru Kit. We also found that a lot of girls we worked with lacked underwear, so… we include 3 pairs of panties in a Huru Kit. We include a resealable bag for private storage of used pads, plus the pads themselves have a hook feature to hang dry them in a discreet area. We mean it when we say we’re here for the girls. And we won’t ever change that.
